Arca – Xen

Coming Down, Music Reviews, Uncategorized

You may already be familiar with Arca from his work with FKA twigs and with Kanye West’s Yeezus.
He released the album, Xen, this year and It’s what i’ve been listening to lately.

I’m a huge fan of his work. Compared to his mixtape, &&&&&, Xen is further experimental. It’s still dark, glitchy electronic music but it has less of an influence from hip hop on it compared to previous work. For example, There really aren’t any vocals from hip hop tracks sampled in any of the songs which is in contrast to his work on &&&&&Stretch 1 & 2 EPs. There’s barely any vocals or lyrics at all on Xen.

So if you’re mainly a fan of Arca’s tracks with sampled vocal tracks or lyrics this may not be for you. However if you’re a fan of experimental, pure electronic music or maybe even classical music definitely get it. Xen is on iTunes.
